In a bid to bolster connectivity between India and Japan, Air India and All Nippon Airways (ANA) have forged a strategic partnership through a codeshare agreement. Effective from May 23, 2024, this collaboration aims to provide passengers with enhanced travel options and a seamless journey experience.

Under this agreement, passengers of both airlines can now seamlessly combine flights between India and Japan under a single ticket, facilitating smoother travel itineraries. By leveraging the codeshare agreement, travelers gain access to a broader range of flight options, allowing them to navigate their journeys with ease and convenience.

Air India will affix its ‘AI’ code on ANA flights operating between Tokyo Haneda and Delhi, as well as Tokyo Narita and Mumbai. Conversely, ANA will reciprocate by including its ‘NH’ code on Air India’s flights connecting Tokyo Narita with Delhi. This reciprocal arrangement not only enhances connectivity between key cities but also fosters greater cooperation between the two airlines.

Passengers flying on codeshare flights operated by Air India and ANA will benefit from premium services, including lounge access and priority boarding privileges. These added amenities aim to enhance the overall travel experience, ensuring passenger comfort and satisfaction.

The collaboration between Air India and ANA signifies a significant step towards strengthening economic ties between India and Japan. By expanding flight options and ensuring safety standards, the partnership seeks to promote tourism, business, and cultural exchanges between the two nations.

Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial and Transformation Officer at Air India, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting its potential to boost network connectivity and provide passengers with seamless travel experiences. Both airlines are also exploring opportunities to expand their collaboration on additional routes, further enhancing connectivity and convenience for travelers.

Overall, the codeshare agreement between Air India and ANA marks a milestone in aviation cooperation, heralding a new era of connectivity and collaboration between India and Japan.

In the future, Air India and ANA are actively exploring prospects for extending their partnership to include more routes, as per a statement.
