The association wants linkage of customers-identity proof for the safety of drivers

New Delhi 24 February 2020:  Commercial Driver Welfare Association (CDWA), a pan India association of commercial drivers, held its meeting recently under the chairmanship of its President, Mr. Amar Singh at Vasant Kunj, Delhi. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the critical issues relating to the cab drivers and was attended by around 100 members of the CDWA from all over the Delhi-NCR.

The Association wants the app-based car rental services to be charged at 10% commission from the cab drivers, instead of 25%, which will help the cab drivers and society at large. With the recent attacks on cab drivers, the Association has also expressed concern about the safety of drivers and want that there should be an id proof linkage of the customers.

Spearheading the meeting, Amar Singh, President, CDWA said, “The CDWA looks after the interest of the cab drivers as well as the wellbeing of the community at large. Today we have discussed some of the mandatory issues related to the cab drivers and would take every possible step to fulfil the decision taken. The awareness regarding the rights of the cab drivers is increasing its popularity among the cab drivers. This has led to an increase in its memberships from merely a handful to now more than 150.”

The meeting concluded with the distribution of the membership cards to the new members of the Association and with the vote of thanks by the President.
