Budhanilkantha, located in Kathmandu district, derives its name from the Sanskrit term meaning ‘Old Blue Throat,’ a reference to Lord Shiva. The area is home to the renowned Budhanilkantha Temple, housing a 1,400-year-old black basalt carving of Vishnu, revered by Hindus and Buddhists alike. Budhanilkantha offers a serene environment, stretching into Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, known for its diverse wildlife and bird species, creating a captivating blend of cultural and natural attractions for visitors.
