Rajasthan, known for its rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes, is gearing up for a major tourism transformation. The Rajasthan Tourism Department has embarked on an ambitious journey to identify and develop new tourist destinations across all of its districts. This groundbreaking initiative aims to enhance the state’s tourism landscape by focusing on the development, restoration, and conservation of two unique tourist attractions in every district.
The projects, already underway, are receiving funding from the Tourism Development Fund, signifying the government’s commitment to this venture. Some of the prominent districts targeted for this development include Jaisalmer, Bundi, Jhunjhunu, Ajmer, Jaipur, Banswara, Alwar, Pratapgarh, Bharatpur, Jhalawar, Nagaur, Dausa, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Jodhpur, Kota, Jalore, Bhilwara, Karauli, Sirohi, Bikaner, and Hanumangarh, among others.
Principal Secretary of the Tourism Department, Gayatri Rathod, shared insights into the initiative, stating, “We are proud to announce that two unique tourist destinations have been earmarked for development in each district. This visionary plan not only aims to enhance existing tourist spots but also envisions the creation of entirely new attractions for visitors.”
Rashmi Sharma, Director of the Tourism Department, expressed the department’s dedication to revitalizing the state’s tourism sector. She revealed that a substantial investment of INR 70.06 crore has been allocated to support ongoing development and renovation activities across all districts.
These innovative initiatives are poised to breathe new life into Rajasthan’s tourism scene, offering a fresh and captivating experience in every district for travelers. Sharma emphasized that this collaborative effort involves various government departments, including the Forest Department, Archaeology Department, Public Works Department, and municipal bodies, all working in tandem to ensure the successful execution of these projects.
